Post subject: unsure how to model new design Reply with quote

I am looking at designing a single pivot rear suspension system which has the linkage driven shock attached to the frame at one end and the linkage at the other but the centre part of the linkage is attached to the swiniging arm
the linkage is the constrained to a tie rod attached to the frame

but my problem is which basic model do i use to start this project ,,

i have used this software with great sucsess , with a couple of designs being in or about to go to production

thanks for any help

Ade

If i'm understanding your design correctly, you need the Swingarm 4-bar option.

i still cant get that to work,,i'll try to describe the system again

this is a single pivot bike with a linkage driven shock imagine the linkage as a single bar with three pivots inline,

the lower pivot goes to the shock the center of the linkage is mounted to the swinging arm in the area of the front gear mech then the shock goes forward to be down tube

and the top most pivot on the linkage is mounted via a link to the frame

hmm, that sounds like a really weird design. The link between the top mount of the single bar and the frame causes the problem. I'm afraid I can't help you any further, sorry.
Good luck!
