Post subject: new cove G-spot anyone?
PostPosted: Thu Jul 29, 2010 6:56 am
Would anyone be willing to run the numbers for the new cove G-spot? I would love to see the axle path and chain growth for this, and how it has changed from the previous version!

A picture can be found here:

Thank you!

Hi, I can do it for you but try to find better picture. The one you linked is slightly of the angle as you can see and that would make significant errors in measurement.

Thank's for your help Fluider!

This looks like it's nearly exactly side on: http://www.covebike.com/bikes/gspot/gsp ... -image.jpg

I can't find any side-on puctures of actual built frames so I guess there may be some uncertainty that this is the final product, but it looks very close if there are differences, and none-the-less your help would be much appreciated!

kind regards,

deejaybee

Sorry for being late with the file, it's uplaoded in lib. But it's really only a rough model since the picture was not the best, so have this in mind please. I'm surprised there are almost no real life pictures of new GSpot.

Thank you very much fluider, your help is much appreciated- I also was surprised there there weren't more pictures, but they all have some angle on them, greater than those I posted. Supposed to have been out a few months now I guess...perhaps people are waiting for the first reviews...?

can I be really cheeky and ask you to do the new Banshee Scythe also?? :D

http://www.bansheebikes.com/images/geom ... ometry.png

Essentially a walking bar single pivot. It would be dead interesting to see how this compares to the Nicolai AFR. Clearly the axle path is likely the be the same as the old version, but it looks like they've changed the shock leverage...

Again, thanks for your help on the G-Spot, I will completely understand if you feel you have done enough for me!

Kind regards,

deejaybee

Deejaybee, we must find another picture. There illustration images are not trustable. They look like exported from CAD software but cannot be trusted. I found this out on Rohloff Speedhub 'drawing'.

HI Fluider,

good point; the marketing people may have got involved in that one!

I have a selection:

this one looks about spot on but is small:
http://www.nsmb.com/assets/images/A-eve ... ythe/1.jpg

This one is bigger, but has been taken from close in hence the rear axle might not be well positioned:
http://www.ride-zone.pl/galerie/banshee-scythe_980.jpg

This one has probably got too much angle on it:

Do any of those work, or do I need to keep searching? (there's plenty to choose from)

kind regards,

deejaybee

It's there. But again, do not 100% rely on that model as the pictures were slightly off angle and moreover, the geo table specifies varying chainstay length depending on fork's height. I set it up on 440mm length. Hopefully, it'll help you at least a little bit. Enjoy comparing ;-).

Thanks again fluider!

Very interesting stuff! I think I might get myself a copy of this program, but I'm sligtly concerned I might spend more time tinkering than riding!

Your help is much appreciated!

kind regards,

deejaybee
